Reach

Our journey has been fueled by the desire to make a real impact, and that means reaching beyond the lab. Through strong relationships with the media, we’ve had the opportunity to share our vision with a wider audience, amplifying our message and gaining national attention. This exposure has allowed us to connect with people across the country, spreading awareness about the importance of sustainable agriculture and the urgency of addressing the climate crisis.

  • Radio UNAM - Interview and News Capsule

The UNAM is the biggest and most prestigious university in Mexico, and it makes a strong effort in communicating science and making it accessible to all the population. Within the university lies the “Universum” science museum, one of the nation's foremost institutions dedicated to scientific endeavors and accessible to the public.

Among its regular programming is the show “La ciencia que somos” (The Science We Are), which features a special segment every Friday titled “Viernes de ciencia” (Science Fridays). It was during this segment that we made a special appearance to present our project and raise awareness among radio listeners about the challenges we face and our proposed solutions to address them.

    Climaton Conference and Exposition

As a finalist team in the Climaton UNAM competition, we had the opportunity to present our project in front of the university community and the open public, as well as experts in climate change and sustainability. There were people from the university sustainability commission and UNICEF, and we were able to get feedback from them to improve our project and its development.

Headlines in El Imparcial and Other Newspapers

The reach of the project and the team was not limited to the most popular media nowadays, but also other means more frequently used by other sectors of the population, including older people. This helped us reach a bigger audience when trying to communicate the problem we are working on.

News about our team and project were published in different newspapers such as “El Imparcial,” Debate, and Proyecto Puente. This has a great local impact since these newspapers are not only nationwide but also local to the regions where the problem is present and where we are working.

    Telemax - Local TV Interview

We had a live interview on a local TV channel, where we were able to talk about our project. This was especially important to reach a broad audience in Hermosillo, Sonora. They helped us sell tickets for our fundraising raffle. Immediately after the interview ended, we received many calls from people interested in supporting us.

    Instagram Reels

As part of the reach strategy, we created and shared different Instagram reels with various purposes. Some were solely educational, while others were more entertaining, but all were related to the project, the problem, or biological sciences. With this approach, we reached a vast audience, with more than 500k viewers in some reels.
